At Shine On Farms, we are blessed to call Mendocino County our home and sanctuary. Nestled high in the majestic hills of Anderson Valley, our farm sits at an ideal 1800ft. elevation so we can see the fog settling into the valley below, making for stunning morning views. Completely off-grid, we aim to be as sustainable as possible, implementing the use of planting cover crops to nurture the soil, we reuse and rebuild season after season, grow an abundance of fruits & vegetables and we even raise our own chickens! We believe in connecting with the rhythm of the land beneath our feet and giving back more than we take.
Shine On Farms leads by example. They want to be seen for what they really are, a farm “that provides medicine and enjoyment for folks. It is definitely time to come out of the shadows and off the hill – let the light be seen. [...] One way or another, we are just farming a plant,” says Hartz. “Times are changing.”
Emerald Magazine visited Shine on Farms for their October issue.
